According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are continuing to 'closely pursue' the Leverkusen star. He adds that if the 21-year-old extends his stay with the defending Bundesliga champions, Bayern are hoping for a move via an exit option/release clause after the 2026 World Cup.

The report adds that the entourage of Wirtz – who has been linked with Bayern, Manchester City, and Real Madrid but may sign a new Leverkusen deal – has been contacted by honorary Bayern president Uli Hoeness over a move. The club supremo is said to have a good relationship with the player's father, Hans Wirtz, and Bayern director of sport Max Eberl has already contacted the German international's camp.
