Tuchel formally took charge of the England national team on January 1 after he signed an 18-month contract with the FA last year. As part of his first assignment, the German visited Tottenham's home ground to catch them live in action against Newcastle in a Premier League clash on Saturday.

The hosts took a fourth-minute lead through England international Dominic Solanke's strike but they could hold on to the lead for just two minutes as his fellow Three Lions star Anthony Gordon scored the equaliser in the sixth minute. Alexander Isak then doubled the Magpies' tally in the 38th minute as the visitors headed into the break with a one-goal lead.
